Hedge replacement

The customer wanted this macrocarpa hedge replaced because it had become too big and too wide to be manageable.

The challenge here was there are telephone wires running very close to the roots and also there are water pipes in the ground. Bringing in a digger and ripping it all out was not an option.

Each of these stumps had to be loosened by hand and then removed by a tractor. The ground had  to be enriched with lots of compost because macrocarpa take out a lot of goodness from the soil. Once the ground was prepared and had settled I replanted with a yew hedge.

House prepared for sale

This house has been rented for years and the garden has become overgrown. I was asked to go along to consult on what improvements I thought were needed. Later I was asked to carry out the recommendations.

These are the before and work in progress photos.

Just by pruning these trees back I’ve improved the light to the house.

Pruning back the shrubs  completely changes the character of this space.

By removing the rubbish and adding some bark this space is transformed.

By removing the top of this pittosporum, I’ve let more light into the house and revealed a breath taking view.
